Attack of the Oozeheads process

A small assignment done for the game company "Monkeybizniz". They were working on a game called Attack of the Oozeheads, which used to be a website flash game. The company wanted to give Attack of the Oozeheads a make over before re-releasing it. They were trying to achieve a fifties look and feel and wanted me to help define the style.

A test I did before I made the final poster. The shapes didn't look clean enough in this version, I had to get closer to the "graphic art" kind of style, with cleaner shapes and less painted gradients.

I wanted to make a poster to combine and show off the style decisions. I made several composition sketches for that purpose.

Original retro posters used to be painted by hand using gouache. I tried to achieve the same textures by hand painting the character by hand first using gouache, and I then touched it up digitally using photoshop.

A character turn around I did, trying to emphasize on the silliness of the invading Alien character.
